I have to say I'm quite surprised that you code this Bridget decided to write about this. I've known Bridget for about 3 or 4 years now and I don't think that she has ever mentioned much about music. We would actually have a lot more conversations.

I do conquer with the fact that this version of new rap has definitely changed from old school. You couldn't be more on point. New school today only seems to talk about all the woman they got and swimming in dollar bills. Old school raps about things that people can relate rappers like 2pac, Notorious B.I.G, Slick Rick, and the list could gone on. Now it is a whole other argument to talk about the beats and the rhythm of the music and which is better.

For me I am a fan of the old school better. My favorite from old school is 2pac. I love the idea of him putting is skills to the test by calling out East Coast and how he would feed off every album, also the competition with one of the greatest, Notorious B. I. G.  I feel the game would have been a lot different, but I would think it would change the game to active much more than talk about the woman they dream of and the money they have and what they spend it on. As far as woman rappers are concerned I believe that this is the time woman should start rapping again. Lady rappers like Queen Lateefa and Lil Kim, woman that could rap with the best of them.

So I am in complete aww that you wrote about this but not disappointed. Very interesting subject that you chose and  pleased that another woman has found strong interest in the game. hopefully you will spread your thoughts on with some others.

  1. Gary responded to Bridget's thoughts on this, too...she really hit a nerve.

As far as old-school female rappers go--do you know MC Lyte? Now we're talking REALLY old school here, like 80's rap. So it's an even deeper dig into hip-hop history than 2Pac etc. But you should check her stuff out, it's classic.

  2. Oops, remember to add a link to Bridget's original post, right? And also the way you've copied her quote into here is really weird...it's doubled or something. Fix please!
